The formation of Mindful Roots stemmed from a fun and collaborative project initiated by three forward thinking female physicians. Our diverse backgrounds make for the foundation (and thus roots) of our practice. Our mindful and careful consideration on what we want to bring to our community is the basis behind our mission.
Our primary focus with our new adventure stems from the identified need in our community to provide both a safe and secure space, in addition to time, to discuss sensitive subject matter. Our goal is to create an open atmosphere to talk about body image, sexual and pelvic health without judgment. The current focus will be with urinary incontinence, pelvic floor relaxation, core strength, body image, and overall wellness. HOW WE CARRY and FEEL about ourselves. Building Muscle & Burning Fat

Rebuild Your Pelvic Floor
r. Lisa Parsons discusses how Mindful Roots is very excited to announce that we are the FIRST and ONLY practice IN MAINE to provide EMSELLA, technology based on HIFEM (High- Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic) energy that produces deep pelvic floor contractions and strengthening. This has been FDA approved for both urge and stress incontinence for woman AND men.

BTL Emsella is a non-invasive FDA approved treatment that provides electromagnetic stimulation of pelvic floor musculature for the purpose of rehabilitation of weak pelvic muscles and restoration of neuromuscular control for the treatment of urinary incontinence in women.
In terms of the treatment, basically patients will come in twice a week for the next three weeks, two treatments per week, so a total of six treatments. The benefits will sometimes be immediate, but the full benefit is usually noticed at about six weeks, post the last treatment and even up to 12 months following.
So, we find that once women and men do the Emsella treatment, then they go on to do kegel exercises, you may or may not need to do any maintenance therapy, afterwards. What we’re excited about is that this is a non-invasive technology. You literally do not have to get undressed to have this treatment done.
Our intensity dial will go up slowly during the first treatment. We are literally in the room with you the entire time. Feedback from our patients say it is intense. It’s nothing that is painful, but it is something you have to get used to. So, we do “up” gradually, overtime.
After the 30 minutes, you’re done. There is no downtime. There is no discomfort. So, hopefully you come to visit us. We are very excited about bringing Emsella to our community.
